Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Invest 96L, that tropical wave that looked like it had so much promise, has dropped off the maps. The National Hurricane Center now says it’s expecting no tropical development in the Atlantic over the next five days. Just as the Sahara giveth (with thunderstorms off the coast of Africa becoming tomorrow’s tropical storms and hurricanes), the Sahara taketh away (with the dry Saharan Dust Layer) inhibiting convection and drying up storms in their tracks.
