It was a dark and stormy night. No, really.
Portions of the Walt Disney World Resort were in the dark Monday night following a significant lightning storm that sat over the area for part of the evening. The National Weather Service had issued a Significant Weather Advisory which noted “frequent cloud-to-ground lightning” along with torrential rainfall, and it was in effect for about two-and-a-half hours. And then… kaboom.
It appears the outage affected both Disney Springs and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. It wasn’t immediately clear if other nearby resort such as Disney’s Old Key West Resort were also affected. Power appears to be restored to at least part of the affected areas. Separately, Guests inside the theme parks reported temporary delays of the nightly fireworks spectaculars.
