Springtime Scorcher: 97 in Orlando and the Hottest April Day Ever in Vero Beach

On the day following a killer tornado outbreak across the deep south, Florida has been spared the severe weather but not the heat that helped fuel it.

Monday’s high temperature in Orlando was 97 degrees, breaking a record that had stood for almost a century.

INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TODAY, APRIL 13TH. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD
OF 95 DEGREES LAST SET IN 1922.

Meanwhile, Vero Beach’s high temperature of 97 was not only eight degrees hotter than the previous record high first set 55 years ago… it also goes down as the hottest April day on record in Vero Beach.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 97 DEGREES WAS SET AT VERO BEACH TODAY,
APRIL 13TH. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 89 DEGREES LAST SET IN
1965.

THIS ALSO BROKE THE RECORD FOR HIGHEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED IN THE
MONTH OF APRIL AT VERO BEACH. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 95 DEGREES,
SET ON APRIL 26, 2015, APRIL 10, 1977, APRIL 26, 1945, AND APRIL 25,
1945.

A rainy midweek promises to bring some relief, with highs expected to be “only” 79 degrees on Thursday before rebounding to the mid 80s by Friday.
