Theme Park and Attraction Operational Impacts from Elsa

Here’s an overview of the latest operational impacts to theme parks and other attractions in central Florida due to the approach of Elsa. All information is subject to change and is updated as new information is received. Check directly with each attraction prior to planning your visit.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island: “Due to the anticipated impact of Tropical Storm Elsa, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will close at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 6 to ensure the safety of our ambassadors, guests and animals. At this time, the park is expected to open at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 7. Updates to the operating schedule will be communicated as needed.”

Island H2O Live! Water Park: The park’s website shows a delayed opening time of noon on Wednesday, July 7.

Port Canaveral: As of the 8:00 PM July 3 Marine Safety Information Bulletin, the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port has set Port Condition “WHISKEY.” Port Canaveral is currently fully open and conducting normal Port operations. Those with interests in the port are asked to review Heavy Weather Plans and to monitor https://twitter.com/BrevardEOC and the Port Status Hotline at 321-394-3411 for updates.

SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica: The park will close at 9PM Tuesday, July 6 (one hour early) and is expected to reopen at 10AM Wednesday, July 7 (one hour late).

SpaceX / Cape Canaveral: Due to the expected extreme weather off the coast of Florida, SpaceX Cargo Dragon CRS-22’s undocking from the International Space Station has been delayed. It is now planned for no earlier than July 7. Certain parameters like wind speeds and wave heights must be within certain limits to ensure the safety of the recovery teams, the science, and the spacecraft. The next opportunity for undocking is July 8 at 10:35 a.m. EDT, with NASA TV coverage scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Additional opportunities are available on July 9 and 10. NASA will provide an update Wednesday, July 7 on the date for undocking following a weather briefing.

Walt Disney World Resort: Although no park closures have been announced, there are some unofficial reports that nighttime spectaculars such as Happily Ever After and Epcot Forever may be adjusted or cancelled Tuesday night, July 6.
