Wind and Tornado Risk Increases for Attractions as Elsa Approaches. Don’t Panic.

SPC Slight Risk

The Storm Prediction Center says there’s an increased risk of damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes as Tropical Storm Elsa approaches the Florida peninsula over the coming days.

For Monday, the risk is “marginal,” or the first of five risk levels.

For Tuesday, July 6th, the overall risk level increases to “slight,” or level 2 out of 5.

The primary risk for the attractions area on Monday is gusty winds, with a 5%-15% chance of a damaging wind gust occurring within 25 miles. On Tuesday, the general wind risk is below 5%, but the tornado risk is up… about 5% to 15% of a tornado occurring within 25 miles of where you are.

Those in the Attractions Area should make sure they have multiple ways to receive warnings, including local media, mobile phone apps, the web, social media (beware of time-shifting algorithms!), and other warning methods.

Keep calm and carry on!
