Orlando had a Record High Low Temperature Sunday. What?

Every now and then we get one of those National Weather Service reports that sort of makes you scratch your head. No, it’s not as eye-crossing as Cooling Degree Days, but it is a bit convoluted.

On Sunday August 11th, the lowest temperature of the day at Orlando International Airport was 78 degrees. That’s the warmest the low temperature for August 11th of any year on record. The NWS record period goes back to 1892, but I’m pretty sure that the weather station at Orlando International Airport wasn’t around back then.

Sunday’s record warm minimum temperature was one degree warmer than the previous record, which was set way back in the ancient times of 2017.
